John Richard Casey
We delve into the remarkable life of a man who has overcome adversity to become a true inspiration to those around him. Meet John, a creative and talented writer passionate about storytelling. John grew up in Rural Tunnel Hill, Illinois, in a time when racism, bigotry, and homophobia were all too prevalent. Despite these obstacles, John refused to let them define him.
As a young adult, John discovered his love for golf, a sport where he would excel. He was a natural athlete and quickly gained recognition for his talent on the golf course. But John was more than just a golfer. He also had a keen business sense and became a respected banker and real estate agent.
John has faced numerous challenges throughout his life but never let them define or defeat him. He has always believed in the power of education, honesty, and hard work. He has always stood up for his beliefs, no matter the consequences. His unwavering commitment to his values has earned him the respect and admiration of all who know him.
We will journey through John’s life, exploring the highs and lows, the triumphs and challenges in his words. We will hear about his family and thoughts on significant events in history. We will read poems and delve into some humor. We will also see how John fought and overcame racism and his love of life and learning.
Above all, we will get to know a man who has never stopped dreaming, moving forward, and telling his story. My father, John, is a true inspiration and a role model for anyone. We hope his story will inspire you to chase your dreams.

Why I Write
By John Casey
It is one’s right, and even duty, to write one’s self into existence. The need to say ‘this happened and I lived through this, and this is how it felt like; this is how I remembered, and this is how I survived.’ If we take time to write about ourselves others can have a deeper understanding of us. with no books, no journals, no memoirs, our lives, and knowledge will be lost and our lives become faint sketches. If you want someone to know how and why you lived; what drove you and what hurt you; what you saw and what you feared, you need to write it down. So I will write as proof that I have lived. Sometimes my memory of a particular past required revisions as to the exactly, and provided freedom to let my stories just come tumbling out.
